Unfortunately, due to groomer sensitivities, we do not groom cats at this time. We do hope to hire a cat groomer in the future.
Dogs may be crated for part of their groom for room temperature drying. Most dogs handle this well, some prefer it to hand drying, those who don’t are done entirely by hand. For the most part dogs are permitted to hang out with us and mingle. Each pet is treated as an individual. We strive to have a calm positive environment.
We accept dogs who struggle in some way with the grooming process. Sheila is Fear Free Certified and we practice safe humane handling. Oftentimes, a dog who will never let their paws be touched at home will become accustomed to having their nails or face trimmed by a conscientious, patient, and professional groomer. As a last resort, if your dog is likely to bite, for the safety of your dog and our groomers, we may use a muzzle while they are being handled for part of the groom. If we feel that your dog becomes too overwhelmed, we may choose to take a short break or not perform the portion of the groom that your dog is having difficulty with suggest a veterinary consultation.
Yes, we take things calm, quietly and slowly with your dog, monitor them for any signs of stress or fatigue, and take breaks when needed. If we see that your dog does not take to the grooming process and is becoming too stressed, we will contact you to pick up your pet and may arrange for the session to be broken up into smaller ones. However, if your dog poses a danger to themselves or the groomer will stop grooming and we may refer you to a veterinary groomer for highly anxious pets. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate loudly vocal dogs at this location.
That depends on your dog’s physical and cognitive health. We like to keep grooming sessions as short as possible and recommend a comfort/low-maintenance groom. So long as your dog is comfortable standing or laying on a table, being bathed, and feels comfortable being handled, we are happy to provide them with a safe environment for their groom.
Of course. Please advise us beforehand of any allergies or sensitivities your dog may have. If your dog requires any medicated or special shampoo and/or conditioner, you can drop it off at the start of your appointment and we will return it to you when you come pick your dog up. If you or your dog is sensitive to perfumes, let us know! We will be sure to only use hypoallergenic fragrance free shampoo for your pet.
If we find fleas or ticks, we will contact you. If we cannot reach you, we will proceed with what works best their individual condition, since we can’t risk cross contamination to other dogs or the grooming area. Tick removal is 5$ per tick. The fee for fleas is 35$.
We love fluffy haircuts here. Unless specified by you, the last thing we want to do is shave your dog. However, a dog’s fur can get so tangled that mats form close to the skin. This is both uncomfortable for your dog and will limit the skin’s ability to function properly In these cases where a dog’s coat is too matted to brush out, we recommend shaving as the only humane choice. At this point, the length of the coat will depend on how close the mats are to the skin: the closer they are to the skin, the shorter the cut will be. From then we can arrange more frequent grooming visits for better coat maintenance or offer resources for regular grooming at home. We will always consult with you first before going ahead and will never shave your dog without your consent. If your dog is severely tangled or matted and you opt to shave them, they are unfortunately at a greater risk of injury and may show signs of stress or trauma. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay down, and the skin underneath those mats can be bruised, raw or inflamed. Because of this, there is a chance that your dog’s skin will become irritated during the process of removing the mats. As careful as we are, nicks can occur due to having to work so closely to the sensitive skin, along with ear hematomas due to excessive head shaking after the mats have been removed. We cannot emphasize enough the important of maintaining healthy skin and coat through regular grooming.
We would rather not. A dog with a double coat, like a Golden, Husky or German Shepherd, will get hot during the summer months just like all other dogs, but that doesn’t mean they should be shaved. A double coat free of packed undercoat or mats is far more effective than shaving for a dog’s natural ability to regulate temperature and the coats protection. Shaving will not only destroy your dog’s beautiful double coat, but also harm their ability to regulate their body temperature, and even put them at risk for heat stroke and sunburn. In other words, it’ll make them suffer from the heat even more. Instead, we recommend keeping their coat groomed and free of any mats or packed undercoat. If, however, your double- coated breed has been shaved in the past or you feel that this is the best option for your situation, we accommodate your request. It should also be noted that shaving your dog’s coat will have no impact on how much or how often they will shed.

In general, smaller- to medium-sized breeds take 2-3 hours to be groomed in full, and larger and/or heavier-coated breeds take between 3 to 4 hours. The condition of their coat, the time since the last groom, and the kind of groom you are looking for will also contribute to the time it takes. We try to strike a balance between making the groom as unhurried and comfortable as we can for your dog while aiming to get them back to you in a timely fashion.
Grooming dogs isn’t as simple as getting your own hair cut. There are many more steps and a full body involved. During your dog’s stay, we bathe, brush, blow dry, trim nails, clean ears, cut fur, tidy sanitary areas, trim some more fur and communicate with your pet. All of this takes time. We also split up our grooming into steps and provide breaks for your dog to make the experience as comfortable and organized as possible. Some younger/inexperienced and special needs dogs need additional time for grooming, rushing only stresses both the dog and the groomer.
YES! We love doing a traditional breed cut or a trending style. We also do hand strips for Terriers.
The retail section the store (1560 Yonge St) has a Self Serve Dog Wash – the store staff will help you book an appointment.
In general, most breeds are best professionally groomed every 4-8 weeks to maintain a healthy skin and coat. The groomer and you will decide on a schedule suitable for your dog depending on your dog’s breed, your lifestyle and how much grooming you are comfortable doing in between professional grooming appointments.
Most often this happens when a dog’s coat is kept too long for their lifestyle (A full coated Doodle who loves the ravine will need very frequent appointments!), the time you have available to maintain their coat at home, or they are not being brought in for grooming often enough for their individual needs. If this is the case, we recommend bringing your dog in for more frequent visits, or keeping your dog’s coat in a sportier trim and easier to manage. If you would like to be more involved in the brushing and maintenance of your dog’s coat from home and outside of your regular grooming appointments, please ask for a tutorial on how to do so.

Yes, we cut nails as part of our grooming packages and grinding is no extra charge! If you are only looking to cut and/or grind your dog’s nails and nothing else, we do that as well. Nail trims and fur trimming around the paws do not require appointments, but it is always best to call in advance to find out when we can fit you in. For those of you maintaining monthly nail trims, we offer the seventh visit free with our “Nail Trim Club”. Be sure to ask us for a membership card.

If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. A 100% charge will be applied for late cancellations, that fee must be paid before another appointment is booked. No shows will be charged 100% for the scheduled appointment, that must be paid before any future appointments will be booked and future appointments must be prepaid.
We will call or text 15 minutes (longer if you need more time for a heads up) before your pet is ready so they can hop fright off the table into your arms. (but not hop, we never let dogs jump off a table!)
Just your dog! We will ask you to fill out our Grooming Contract with all relevant information about you and your dog, contact information, and details about our policies. Please read this over carefully and return it to us before you leave with your dog at the end of their stay. You can leave your dog’s leash and collar with us, and/or carriers for smaller dogs.
Yes. Exceptions are made for elderly dogs, dogs unable to receive vaccines for medical reasons or dogs with titre testing.
Of course, not a problem at all.
We highly recommend bringing your puppies in for short grooming sessions, especially breeds that will require regular grooming throughout their adult life. We offer a ‘Puppy Intro’ bath and tidy for puppies starting at 12 weeks old to help introduce them to the grooming process. This includes acclimatizing them to getting bathed, blow dried, handled by other people, being around grooming tools and the scents and sounds of the salon. Early visits ensure the comfort of your puppy for grooming the rest of his/her life, a good start can not be stressed enough.
Please bring your dog walked and relieved. We want them comfortable during grooming. Stay all day dogs will be walked midway through the day.
The truth of the matter is that dogs will be dogs and unexpected jumps, wiggles, and sudden movements can happen. As much as we prioritize the safety and health of your dog, our groomers are handling scissors and razors around them, and sometimes your dog may move too quickly for our groomers to anticipate. And as rare as it is for an accident to occur, they are most often superficial nicks. We will always inform you of any concerns.
Many dogs are not accustomed to being handled by strangers, being in new places, and experiencing all the sights, sounds and smells of grooming shop. It is not uncommon for some dogs to feel stressed or tired after their groom. Dogs that have had heavily matted coats may feel “funny” after being groomed due to being itchy from the return of blood flow to the skin and the new light, breezy feeling of having the heavy coat removed. We strive to maintain as stress and fear free experiences as possible for your pet and really want them to succeed during and after their visit.
If you are not happy with your dog’s groom, let us know within 24 hours and we will have you pop back in for minor tweaking and/or make notes for your next visit. Like your own hairdresser, it takes getting to know your pets hair, how it lays both when freshly dried and later when it falls at home, and where the multitude of cowlicks are.
Tell your friends! Leave a review! We love to hear how we did and want to see you again!
